S：In the twinkling of an eye , more than half of September has passed.

E：But I am so happy，because there will be many festivals soon！

R：Yes！here will come the National Day, Mid-Autumn Festival in October.

E：I'm looking forward to the Mid Autumn Festival，Mooncake is my favorite dessert！

S：欸，说起这个中秋节，咱们如果跟外国朋友说起我们中国传统的节日，是不是有很多需要学习的英文表达！

R：Absolutely yes！

S：Every year, Chinese people celebrate the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese lunar calendar.

E：That‘s right！每年的农历八月十五就是我们的中秋节了。

R：There are a few useful language points from what you just said！

E：Emm，yeah，"Celebrate" is a good one！

S：Yep，Celebrate就是庆祝，庆贺的意思，我们说庆祝庆贺什么样节日都是用到这个动词.

E：Right！Celebrate holidays，庆祝中秋节，Celebrate the traditional mid-autumn festival！

R：Mid-autumn festival，Mid这个前缀的意思就是居中，在什么什么的中间，autumn是秋天的意思，Mid-autumn在秋天的中间，中秋。

S：And you have to know the Chinese Luna Calendar.

E：Yes，The Chinese Luna Calendar就是中国的农历.

R：It’s traditional to eat mooncakes for the Mid-Autumn Festival.

S: 没错，咱们中秋节的传统是要吃月饼，mooncake就是月饼的意思啦。

R：Eric，you just said you enjoy eating mooncake？So which flavor do you like best？

E：Ice cream！I really like snow-skin moon cake，there is plenty of ice cream in it！

S：ha！So actually you like ice cream，not the mooncake！

E:  Heihei，bingo！

S：How about you ，Rachel？

R：Yes, I like，but when I eat mooncake，I often ask my mom，Would you please chop the moon cake into six pieces? Because，I just ，don’t want to eat the whole piece at a time，it’s too sweet for me!

E：I can eat it in one bite！

S：And these yummy treats symbolize reunion and happiness. 咱们中秋节这些美味的食物比如说月饼都象征着团圆和幸福。

R：Nowadays, Mid-Autumn Festival is listed as an official holiday in China. Many people use this 'mini-holiday' to visit family and friends.

E：Mini holidays，Does that mean “小长假” ？

S：Right，现在，中秋节被列为了中国的法定假期。许多人在“小长假”的时候回家探望亲友。小长假的英语就是mini holiday啦？So What about official holiday？

R：Official holiday means “公共假期，法定假期” ,This year, our national day and the Mid Autumn Festival are together for an official holiday.

E：Where are you going on Mid-Autumn Festival holiday?Silvia

S：I think I will take a staycation.

R：Staycation？Silvia放假你要宅在家里吗。

S：Yes，because I don’t like to join the travel peak.

E：Travel peak？What does that mean？

R：I know，I know, travel peak means 旅游高峰期

S：Bingo, that’s right. So maybe I will choose to come back home to see my parents.

R：I know a song which can deliver our message to the relatives，the friends.

E：Let me guess.

R：It has the word “season” in the song’s name.

S：And it was written by my favorite music group “westlife“.
